ADOPTION EVENTS (please understand that all of our pets are in foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please email us to confirm attendance): Come and meet me at the following adoption events: Urban Tails - Uptown, Minneapolis, Saturday, October 11 from 12:30 p.m.2:30 p.m. Aimee is a total sweetheart whos had a rough time. Shes a couch potato and a bed hog who loves to chase a ball and play with other dogs. While shes come a long way since her liberation from a commercial breeding facility, she is going to need love, patience and some special help in order to thrive in her permanent home. Underneath her many fears and anxieties, shes playful and a real cuddler, but she will need patience and understanding as she gets adjusted to new environments. Like many commercial breeder dogs, she is more comfortable around dogs than people. Your resident dog will need to help her re-learn what it means to be a dog and assist you in getting her out of her shell. With stability and guidance, Aimee has really blossomed into a loving and playful dog who will be a treasure and a delight in the right home. Size: 30 lbs; were not sure if she is a tiny standard bull terrier or a giant mini! Housetrained: Mostly. She knows to eliminate outside, but not necessarily not to go inside. If you keep her on a regular schedule for letting her out and feeding her, shes almost there. Training: Knows her name, comes when called unless frightened, started walking on a leash, totally crate trained. Training is a bit of a challenge since she is not really very food or praise motivated, but as she gains confidence, this should get easier. Needs: · A quiet, stable home with a regular schedule · At least one other resident dog who is gentle and playful. Aimee will not do well as an only dog. · A patient, devoted person with lots of dog experience, preferably with some experience rehabilitating fearful dogs. · Because she has only started walking on a leash, she must have a home with a fenced yard. · Though she is not aggressive, a household with young children is probably not going to work for her; she needs predictability and quiet. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality.
